Today, only ferns rustle in the cool breeze


Here's some of the original Helensburgh station platform, about 50 yards north of Tunnel No 4.

As you can see, it was a tight fit in this cutting, even for the smaller trains of 100 years ago! 

The track is only cosmetic, having been installed here several years ago as part of the area's clean-up.

Tunnel No 3 - which operated until recently as a mushroom farm - is among the trees dead ahead. Posted by Hello
